Too Many Cooks In The Kitchen
acrylic on canvas, 11/2024
The day after the election, I went to the studio and started a new painting, wondering what would come up. I use Prussian blue to sketch out rough shapes, figures, flows of energy, etc. to start. It was calling for multiple figures, so I scattered them in space, and then a thought came up; it's "Too many cooks in the kitchen!" It made sense since I was thinking a lot about how Democracy was failing, and the idea of too many cooks spoiling the broth felt like one explanation for the failure of having a clear collective purpose.
