How Much The Heart Can Hold
acrylic on canvas, 4/2025
I have been busy reworking old pieces this spring. This was originally painted in 2014 and called "A Couple By The Stairs." We were staying in a gorgeous house up on a hill right in the middle of the stairs in San Miguel. The view was fantastic, and the stairs invited couples to hang out around sunset. I decided to make the piece more about the act of embracing and less about the stairs. The title was taken from the quote, "Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold,” by Zelda Fitzgerald.
