I worked on this painting about the birth of my granddaughter for months, and finally finished it a year after her birth. It prompted the start of painting family portraits. I had never painted many portraits, and never mind family portraits! However, the baby has been the driving force for me to paint family scenes in various abstract and narrative forms.
